Clayton Bay for the day
Kangaroo Island - Flinders Chase NP
A lovely drive through very scenic and winding roads on Kangaroo Island.
The park itself is very well set up. Excellent facilities and walkways at Admirals Arch and at Remarkable Rocks.
The girls really loved the seals - there were three kinds all lounging about on the rocks - Australian and New Zealand Fur Seals, and a few Seal Lions as well.
Hindmarch and Ingalalla Falls
Walking in Wilpena Pound
After breakfast, we did some walking inside Wilpena Pound. The Hills Homestead, and Wangaraa lookouts and the Pound itself. We walked about 22km's throughout the morning, the girls did an amazing job.
Wilpena Pound and Brachina Gorge
We stopped and had lunch on the Brachina Gorge road, and enjoyed the Rock Wallabies frolicking on the slopes.
After we were done for the day, we arranged a scenic flight over Wilpena Pound. Bud's first time in a Cesna, but the conditions were perfect.
Wilpena Pound, Flinders Ranges
Adelaide to Coober Pedy.
Hot! Its 39 degrees and its 9pm. Thankfully I located the underground hotel - the rammed earth and semi underground construction makes for some nice and cool rooms.
I was DELIGHTED to hear that Ayer's Rock is another 730km drive tomorrow. Woah!
McClaren Vale wineries, Adelaide
We organised an impromtu wineries tour, thanks largely to Tania who could offer some great local knowledge.
I had no idea tasting wine could be so much fun. I came across some truly excellent bottles - which came in handy for dinner that night with Mat and Andrew in Adelaide. Great food, great wine, followed by some more fringe festivities in the form of some Shakespearean satire.
You gotta love S.A.
Went and kicked around in the city for a while, had a nice lunch and lay in one of the great inner city parks and read my book (I'm re-reading 'The View from the Mirror - Ian Irvine' Great! Fits my current quest nicely).
Came back to Mats house and was altruistic - replaced a GPO for the laundry.
I spent some of this afternoon overcoming my fear of snakes. Sean brought out his pair of Rainbow Serpents and his Carpet Python (Neo, Trinity and Britany) so they could stretch their legs in the sun. Such beautiful animals.
Flinders Ranges to Adelaide
Drove down through Hawker, Pt Adelaide to Adelaide. Got in touch with an old friend Mat, and had some dinner. Thai! Finally!. Was a great night.
We also stopped by the Fringe Festival, and took in some of the side show acts - Captain Frodo, the Amazing Rubber Man, and the man that can breath through his eyes. Disturbing but fun.
